Disney wants to remake Home Alone & 3 other family movies

Following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox earlier this year, Disney has revealed its plans to remake several classic family movies!!  They now have the rights to these movies, starting with the 1990 holiday favorite Home Alone.

Disney CEO Bob Iger made the announcement Tuesday afternoon. He explained that the movie will be made for the Disney+ streaming platform rather than for cinematic release.

In addition to Home Alone, other films facing the remake treatment include the Night at the Museum franchise, Diary of a Wimpy Kid , and the Steve Martin comedy Cheaper by the Dozen.
It’s not clear at this time if Disney’s vision includes a straight-up remake of these titles, or a twist on the familiar tales, as announced by Iger…he said they would be “reimagined” for a “new generation” of viewers.
