Corona adopts the edible 6 pack ring holder

If you are anything like me, when you get a 6 pack…you spend at least 1 minute cutting all of those rings a holes with scissors.  Taking every precaution not to endanger sea life.  Sea life can become entangled in the rings of a 6 pack holder.  Not only is it bad for the sea creatures, the material is NOT the best for the environment!

A few years ago a craft microbrewery in Florida called Saltwater Brewery had a great idea and started a trend that could save millions of sea creatures.  Can you imagine if bigger breweries and soda companies would adopt this concept?

The brewery — started by surfers, fishermen and “people who love the sea” — developed edible ring-holders for their beer cans made of barley and wheat remnants from the brewing process.

Now, craft brewers in Australia, South Africa, Poland, Scotland, Connecticut, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Washington State have started using this amazing 6 pack beer holder!

Corona has jumped on the band wagon and could really get the ball rolling, as the first major beer company to test the product.

The rings are 100% biodegradable and safe for fish, turtles, birds and other marine life to eat, unlike the plastic ring-holders that are now killing them by the millions.

According to marine biologists, an estimated one million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals and sea turtles become entrapped in plastic or ingest it and die.

The biodegradable and/or edible holders will biodegrade on land or become fish food in the water.

The rings are currently being used in Tulum, Mexico, and will be expanded everywhere Corona is sold if all goes well.

So, here’s the takeaway…don’t pollute!  Earth is the ONLY possible place we can live right now…can’t live on Mars, Pluto or Uranus!  Every living creature on this Earth has a purpose…let’s protect the Earth and protect the wildlife!!
