Casting started for this classic book to be made into a movie.

Lionsgate has started casting!  Abby Ryder Fortson, you may know her from Ant-Man and Rachel McAdams are set to star in Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, an adaptation of Judy Blume’s classic novel of the same name.

Ryder Fortson will play Margaret Simon and McAdams will play Margaret’s mother, Barbara, in the studio’s book-to-screen adaptation.

The movie, which begins the filming and production in April, is written and will be directed by Kelly Fremon Craig, who is joining up again with producer James L. Brooks and Gracie Films banner. Which they collaborated on the film The Edge of Seventeen.

Judy Blume will have a say in production and filming as well as Julie Ansell, Richard Sakai, Amy Brooks, Fremon Craig will all join Brooks as producers on the film!
