A new word for our vocabulary…”Pangry”

It’s kinda a long the lines of “hangry,” a combo of hungry and angry.

You haven’t seen your friends or family in almost a year, you haven’t traveled, you haven’t done the things you like to do in almost a year, all in the name of safety during the pandemic.

Then you look around and there are people with no masks, traveling during the holidays, taking a Caribbean vacation and it just makes you angry. Angry because you so miss doing all of those things.

The actual feeling you are feeling is “pangry.” A combo of pandemic and angry.

COVID-19 has now killed more than 400,000 Americans and millions more are sick, while putting tremendous strain on our health care workers. Yet many people continue to do the things they did before the pandemic, know that your strong feelings are justified and normal. Atlanta clinical psychologist Zainab Delawalla says, “Those who are engaging in risky behavior are sending the message that COVID isn’t really their problem, that they don’t see a reason to modify their behavior to mitigate risk.”

So, pangry is the word!
