A full & exciting week at Camp Rainbow

If you know, you know! If you experience it, you’ll never be the same! If you donate, you know you are donating to something bigger! I’m talking about Camp Rainbow.  Beaver Country is really lucky to have this camp in our area! Camp Rainbow is a camp for kids with medical issues that don’t have any other camp to experience or maybe a camp for them may be too far away. The most wonderful doctors and nurses are always on hand to administer meds, fix boo boos, fix dislocated knees and and bandage up fractured feet!

I was privileged to be a part of this wonderful, magical place! When I say magical, I mean magical! The kids that attend Camp Rainbow look forward to this more than Christmas, even their birthdays!  I’m pretty certain miracles happen there every year!

The miracle starts with you! How? Well. Camp Rainbow runs off donations from the public. When you donate to Camp Rainbow, every, single cent of your donation goes to the kid campers! Not a single person on Camp Rainbow staff gets paid! It truly is a labor of love! This camp is very near and dear to A LOT of people, including myself!

Here’s a little more info on Camp Rainbow and how you can donate, get your kid(s) involved or donate your time! Make sure you listen to the Beaver 100.3 in February 2023 for stories of campers, counselors and parents, our Camp Rainbow Radiothon.

I got to be a counselor at this year’s week long camp. This was my first time at Brandon Spring campground at Land Between the Lakes.

We showed up on Sunday at 1pm. We decorated all the dorms, activity building, the pool area and the chow hall. The fishing area was set up with all the poles and fishing gear so the kids could fish. The big inflatables were set up in the lake. That’s just a little bit of all we did on Sunday!  Whew! We had dinner then it was lights out because the kids were showing up on Monday!

My pinwheel handy work!

Water, Water and more Water! We were all very hydrated!

This was only 1/4 of the art supplies we have at Camp! Arts and Crafts is a biggie for the campers!

I had 2 campers! I was super excited because these two are stars on the Radiothon every February.  This was a bittersweet year because it’s their last year of camp.

This is my camper, Lacy

And my other camper, Katelyn!

This really was an exciting and fun week with all of these amazing kids! I’ve got a ton of pics! We did everything! Swam in the pool and the lake with the super huge inflatables! We did the foam slide, saw a helicopter close up, a Montgomery Co. Fire Dept. bucket truck!  Had an epic water fight, had a pool party, saw fireworks, went to Turkey Bay, the Bikers Who Care came to the camp, rode in jeeps and razors, Arts and crafts, played games, tie dyed tshirts, made stepping stones and so much more! I really hope you enjoy the pics. This is only the tip of the ice berg! I’ll have more when the Radiothon comes back around!

Oh, we had a fishing tourney too! I unfortunately caught this fish when the tourney was over. wah wah!

As you take a look at these pics, just know, each and every one of the kids are superstars! That week, I learned so much from the kids! We certainly can learn a lot from them! Mostly about kindness and inclusion!

Remember, if you can’t give time, a few dollars a month goes ALONG way!!!  This camp is now in part of my heart and soul forever!
