A California lawmaker’s proposed bill that would affect the food industry is facing some very, VERY heavy criticism.
California State Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon wanted to address pollution by focusing on plastic…specifically, straws according to KGTV.
According to Calderon’s bill, any server who gives a plastic straw to a restaurant customer without first asking them would face a $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail. The bill reportedly would apply only to waitstaff in sit-down restaurants, not bars or fast food establishments.
