Work week weather: Dangerous heat returns, with Heat Advisory through Tuesday

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Temperatures will soar into the upper 90s to start the week, with heat index values climbing into the triple digits, making for dangerous conditions during the afternoon hours.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday and Tuesday will both bring highs near 98, with the heat index reaching up to 109 on Monday. A Heat Advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives by midweek, offering some relief as highs dip into the low 90s.

  • Monday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98. Heat index values as high as 109. Calm wind becoming north northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
  • Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 72. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Tuesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.
  • Tuesday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
  • Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Calm wind becoming north northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
  • Wednesday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. North wind around 5 mph.
  • Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. North wind around 5 mph.

  • Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.
