CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)-  On the day of their jury trial, two men admitted to their involvement in the Post Road home invasion that led to the shooting death of 21-year-old Andrew Young.

Javon Demonte Fields and Jadon Malone, both originally charged with first-degree murder and especially aggravated burglary, were scheduled to begin a jury trial Monday morning.

Both men pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of second-degree murder and had their other charge dismissed.

Judge Jill Bartee Ayers  will  decide the length and manner of their sentence and Fields and Malone both face 15-25 years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections to serve at 100 percent.

Assistant District Attorney Robert Nash said he spoke with the family of Andrew Young before signing off on the plea agreements.

The shooting

On May 11, 2018, a little after midnight, four or five men wearing masks broke into the Faulkner family’s home on Post Road, according to Nash.

The grandparents of Andrew Young lived at the home and were targeted due to Young’s involvement in selling marijuana.

Malone was identified as the person who climbed through a window and opened the front door letting the other four men into the home. It’s believed at least four if not all five men were armed with handguns, and Fields was identified as one of the men, Nash said.

Once in the home, they held Thomas and Gayle Faulkner at gunpoint and ushered them into the living room.

When their grandson Andrew Young  appeared armed with a gun, he was shot three times- one a fatal shot to his head.

The five men took marijuana, guns and cash and fled the home.

Fields and Malone went to an apartment in Clarksville and split proceeds from the robbery, Nash said.

At trial, a witness would’ve testified she heard Malone, Fields and a woman named Victoria Erin Mallory Powell discussing how to break into the Faulkner’s home and details of the home invasion.

Fields and Malone are both scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Jill Ayers on Sept. 10.

Co-defendant cases

• On June 15, 2020, Tyler Stilke, entered an open guilty plea to second degree murder and faces 15-25 years in prison to serve at 100 percent

Under the plea agreement, he can not have contact with co-defendants and must give truthful testimony against co-defendants.

Like Malone and Fields, the manner and length of Stilke’s sentence will be determined by Judge Ayers. He is scheduled to have a sentencing hearing on September 10.

• Corban Lucas Mines, appeared in court and had this case rescheduled to September 11 for status. Mines is alleged to have participated and drove co-defendants to the home and to Nashville following the murder.

• Victoria  Powell, also appeared in court and had her court date rescheduled to August 21 for a settlement. She was implicated as allegedly particpating in the planning of the home invasion.

Both Mines and Powell are charged with first degree murder and especially aggravated burglary.

Linked to Nashville murder, robbery cases

During the murder investigation, 12 shell casings were found in the Post Road home from a .38 caliber, a .45 caliber and one from a 9mm  gun. The 9mm gun was linked to the homicide of a Nashville man named Alondo Harris, Jr.

Harris, 22, was shot in the head in July 2018.

Malone was identified as the gunman by an eye witness and those charges are pending in the Nashville court system.

Fields , along with two Nashville codefendants, was also charged  with several armed robberies in Nashville where victims were lured in through a dating app and then robbed.

Fields has several cases pending in Davidson County court.
