UPDATE: Interstate 24 back open in Clarksville after several motorcycles crash

Update, 11:30 a.m.: Traffic is back to normal.

Update, 10:30 a.m.: Westbound traffic is now backed up from Exit 4 to about mile marker 6.

Update, 10 a.m.: Interstate 24 has reopened, according to CPD. “Traffic will take time to start flowing normally, and the public should be prepared for delays,” Gill said.

Previously:

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Several motorcycles crashed on Interstate 24 Saturday morning, causing the eastbound lanes to be shut down.

At 9:15 a.m., the eastbound lanes were closed just past Exit 4, according to Clarksville Police Lt. Charles Gill. The interstate will be closed for an extended period, he said.

At 9:40 a.m., eastbound traffic was backed up from just after Exit 8 to beyond Exit 1.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is responding to the investigation, and CPD is assisting with traffic control for THP and Emergency Medical Services.
