CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Tennessee Department of Transportation released their 10-Year Project Plan this week, which included several key projects here in Clarksville-Montgomery County. The plan shows planned improvements to Trenton Road, widening a segment of I-24, as well as widening a segment of Rossview Road.

Under TDOT’s fiscal year 2026-28 three-year plan projects, one of the projects listed has more than $293 million going toward the enhancement of Trenton Road/State Route 48.

The project includes the widening of State Route 48 from two lanes to five lanes with a two-way left turn just south of 101st Airborne Division Parkway to north of Tylertown Road, according to TDOT’s official website. In addition, the project also includes a Continuous-Flow Intersection at the intersection of State Route 48 and State Route 374 to help with traffic flow and safety.

TDOT says the proposed project includes approximately 4.24 miles of roadway construction, with the start of construction estimated for fiscal year 2029.

I-24 in Montgomery County

Another Clarksville-Montgomery County project listed is the widening of a segment of I-24 for over $529 million.

TDOT says they plan to widen I-24 in Montgomery County from Exit 1 to Exit 11. “The project, which will widen I-24 from the current four-lane section to six lanes across an 11.63-mile footprint, is intended to address current and anticipated future congestion along the I-24 corridor,” TDOT said.

To not only reduce time, but cost to complete and impact of the project, TDOT said all construction is planned to occur to the inside of the existing lanes and to involve minimal, if any, right-of-way impacts.

Preliminary engineering will begin in 2027 for the project, with construction set to begin in fiscal year 2034.

Rossview Road widening

$68 million is also going toward the widening of Rossview Road from east of International Boulevard to east of Kirkwood Road through the Statewide Partnership program, according to a Montgomery County Government Facebook post.

The estimated construction year for the project is 2028.
