CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Montgomery County officials reported another COVID-19 fatality late Friday afternoon, the seventh death reported, within a four-day period.
The local total deaths toll is now at 23.
Two deaths were reported on Tuesday, and another three deaths on Wednesday. Thursday one more death was reported.
Joey Smith, Montgomery County Health Department director, said Wednesday that all of the deaths locally have been in “vulnerable populations,” which is in close alignment with the rest of the deaths in Tennessee.
Locally, two-thirds of those who have died have been over the age of 71, he said.

Here are the rest of the local statistics as of Friday at 2 p.m.:
- 2.233 lab confirmed and 44 probable cases for a total of 2,277 since March 6
- 37 new cases today out of 410 new test results
- 23 total deaths
- 242 total school-age cases (5-18)
- 0 new hospitalizations (residence correction)
- 98 total hospitalizations
- 28,686 total negative lab results
Because of a problem at the state level with the data, active cases aren’t currently reliable. Smith said he’s working with the state to sort out the issue.
