Update, 5:45 a.m.: Just before 1 a.m., residents reported hearing a large number of gunshots. At about the same time, LifeFlight was called to Clarksville to pick up a 30-year-old male with gunshot wounds to the right arm, both legs and abdomen, according to Clarksville Now news partner Dash 10 Media. LifeFlight picked up the patient at Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville.

Police have not confirmed whether the suspect was shot, injured or taken into custody.

Update, 4:30 a.m.: After additional gunfire involving Clarksville Police, the incident is over, according to CPD. No other officers have been injured.

“By departmental Policy the Clarksville Police Department is cooperating with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation as they investigate the incident for the district attorney,” Beaubien said.

Just before 1 a.m., residents reported hearing a large number of gunshots.

No additional information has been released, including whether the suspect was shot, injured or killed.

Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) have arrived at the scene. Two ambulances left the scene at about 3 a.m.

The roads have been reopened and residents can return to the area.

Update, 10 p.m.: The standoff is continuing, and the perimeter remains in effect. Needmore Road remains closed from Wilma Rudolph Boulevard to Trenton Road.

Negotiators have been in contact with the suspect throughout the incident, Beaubien said.

Update, 7 p.m.: Additional shots have been fired in the last 15 minutes, according to Malik Terry, a resident inside a nearby apartment. He told Clarksville Now he heard several shots being fired.

Update, 5:55 p.m.: The officer was shot in the foot and treated at Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville, according to law enforcement officials speaking to Clarksville Now news partner WKRN-Channel 2.

Three people are in the apartment, the official said, and two of them are brothers.

The incident began at about 2 p.m. as officers were attempting to serve a warrant, Beaubien told Clarksville Now.

One neighbor told WKRN she heard gunshots as police were surrounding the suspect. She also said her husband was outside when gunfire erupted, and he had to hide behind an apartment building.

Update, 5:50 p.m.: There is more than one person in the apartment where the man is barricaded, CPD spokesman Scott Beaubien confirmed.

Update, 5:10 p.m.: A bus from the Just For Kids daycare has arrived with the children, and they have been released to their parents.

An officer at the scene said residents are being evacuated from nearby apartments.

Update, 4:45 p.m.: Parents with children in the Just For Kids St. Bethlehem daycare center were called to pick up their children. The daycare is next to the scene. Several parents arrived and waited for over an hour, but the scene was blocked off.

According to the parents, a police officer told them that buses are being arranged to transport the children from the day care to where the parents are gathered.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A man who shot a Clarksville Police officer is barricaded in a house at Union Hall Road and White Oak Road.

The officer has been injured, but his injuries are not life-threatening, according to CPD spokesman Scott Beaubien.
