FORT Campbell, KY.  (CLARKSVILLENOW) –  The 101st Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) “Wings of Destiny,” held a Change of Command Ceremony Friday at the Division Parade Field on post.

The Change of Command Ceremony included the traditional passing of the colors from the outgoing commander, Colonel Matthew R. Weinshel, to the incoming commander, Colonel Travis M. Habhab.

The unit’s colors are the commander’s symbol of authority representing his responsibility to the organization.  The passing of the colors symbolizes the transfer of command responsibility and authority from the old commander to the new commander.

It also demonstrates to the soldiers of the brigade that Colonel Weinshel has passed mantle of leadership to Colonel Habhab along with the loyalty and unity of the Soldiers.

Colonel Weinshel thanked what he called the dedicated and professional Soldiers of the 101st CAB. “I am eternally grateful to the leaders and Soldiers of the Wings of Destiny for their purpose, character, confidence, leadership, and the way in which they built readiness,” said Weinshel.

Colonel Habhab recognized the Fort Campbell leadership, the communities surrounding the installation, and the CAB Soldiers.  “I can tell already that you are an outstanding group of Soldiers and thanks in advance for all of your hard work,” Habhab said.

“The 101st CAB is the best trained and most capable, and ready combat aviation brigade in the Army today, and that is a matter of fact,” said Major General Brian Winski, Commander of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell.
