CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Jo Ellen “Jodi” O’Connor recently announced her candidacy for Montgomery County mayor.

For the last 20-plus years, O’Connor has been practicing real estate, as Jodi Griffey. She said this has provided her with the knowledge, experience and insight to guide Montgomery County into a new era of smart growth. Having experienced the recession from 2008-11, she feels that the rapid expansion we are experiencing, coupled with lack of schools, not enough county emergency services, as well as inadequate road infrastructure, are major issues that could have additional adverse effects in the future and need to be addressed immediately.

“I am running for county mayor because it’s time for change, a new perspective, not one based on politics or relationships, but one that embraces the entire community as a whole, not just a small section,” O’Connor said.

She is running as an independent on the August ballot.

O’Connor was raised and educated in Clarksville. Her father was a builder (Dwan O’Connor), and her mother (Jean) was a homemaker. O’Connor grew up in Clarksville and is a graduate of Austin Peay State University. In 2001, she obtained her real estate license and has worked as a Realtor in Tennessee for the past 21 years. In 2008, she developed a subdivision off of Exit 11 (Wilsonway Estates). Prior to real estate, she was the coordinator for Development and Fundraising for Make-A-Wish Foundation, volunteer director for St. Francis Hospital (Memphis), and prior to that worked for the Kullman Law Firm (New Orleans). O’Connor also served on the Board of Directors for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and has volunteered with Loaves and Fishes.

She can be reached at 931-271-2200. Residents may also email her at joconnor4mayor@gmail.com or visit her online at www.joconnor4mayor.com.
