Heat in Clarksville: Heat wave enters 2nd day, with high up to 96 expected, heat index of 107

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The heat wave continues into a second day today, with a high of 96 degrees and a heat index of 107 expected.

Montgomery and surrounding counties are under a Heat Advisory from noon today through Friday at 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. A heat index of up to 107 is expected every day.

At 5 p.m. Tuesday, the temperature at Outlaw Field topped out at 94 degrees, and the heat index hit 104.

“Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur,” the NWS said. “Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Heat wave continues

There’s little relief in site, with highs rising to 97 on Wednesday and near 100 on Thursday. Here’s the outlook:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 96. Heat index values as high as 107. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the morning.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 73. Northeast wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Heat index values as high as 104. Calm wind becoming east southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Thursday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 73. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 99. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. West wind around 5 mph.
