CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – At the County Commission meeting on Monday, a resolution was introduced to accept a $10,000 donation from Hankook Tire Manufacturing to go toward needed equipment for the Montgomery County Fire Service.

The equipment is a set of thermal imaging cameras, and Fire Chief Michael Rios told Clarksville Now the cameras will be used to upgrade the older technology his department uses in a few of their vehicles.

“These thermal imaging cameras are a vital tool used in operations where conditions have limited visibility and help when searching for victims or hot spots in a burning building,” Rios said. “We appreciate Hankook for their generosity and continued support in our community.”

Specifically, Rios said the funds would be used to acquire two Flir K55 Thermal Imaging Cameras.

Montgomery County Animal Care and Control receives $4,000 grant

Another resolution brought forward at Monday’s meeting was a proposal for Montgomery County Animal Care and Control to receive grant funds from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, with the goal of waiving and discounting adoptions fees for cats and dogs adopted in October 2025, as well as covering make-ready costs for the adoptions and potential staffing costs and related expenses for an adoption event.

Clarksville Now has reached out to Montgomery County Animal Care and Control for comment.

The County Commission will meet on Monday, Aug, 11, for their formal voting meeting.
