Update, 11:15 a.m. Monday: The Cumberland should crest in Clarksville at 47.7 feet at 7 p.m. today. That’s lower than the 49.1 crest that had been forecast earlier.

At 10 a.m., the river was at 47.41 feet and rising.

Update, 10:30 p.m.: A Flood Warning has been issued for the Cumberland River in Clarksville, through Thursday morning.

The river was at 45.34 feet and rising at 9 p.m. Sunday

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Cumberland River in Clarksville will reach minor flood stage tonight as the dams are opened to prevent flood damage upstream.

The Cumberland will enter minor flood stage, 46 feet, at about 8 p.m., and it should crest at 49.1 feet at 7 p.m. on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

At 46 feet, flood waters begin to impact areas along the river, including agricultural and commercial properties, Riverfront Park and adjacent tributaries including Bartons Creek, Red River, West Fork Red River and Yellow Creek.

Affected locations will include South Riverside Drive near Highway 48, North Riverside Drive near Providence Boulevard East, Quarry Road, Kraft Street near College Street, and Zinc Plant Road. Water approaches properties near Salem Road and Seven Mile Ferry Road.

At 48 feet, water approaches properties near Kraft and Providence, and begins to cover Riverside at Mc Clure Street and near Cumberland Drive.

At 1 p.m. Sunday, the river was at 43.04 feet and rising.

So far, the Red River at Port Royal is reading at normal levels.
