CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – County Commissioner Jason Hodges formally announced his intention to run for the District 67 State Representative seat being vacated by Representative Joe Pitts.
“After spending a lot of time listening to the needs of District 67 constituents and with the encouragement and support of Rep. Joe Pitts, I have decided to run for State Representative. Joe has served in this seat as a true public servant and has always been available to all of his constituents. I want to carry on that legacy of service,” said Hodges, who is running as a Democrat.
In a press release, Hodges outlined his accomplishments as county commissioner including sponsoring the resolution that brought the Downtown Commons, which is scheduled to open later this month with an ice skating rink, as well as the resolution to form a Charter Committee for consolidation of city and county government. Currently, he serves on the Rules Committee, Delinquent Tax and Sales Committee, Airport Authority Liaison Committee, and as the Chairman of the Legislative Liaison Committee.
Hodges is a member of several local boards including the Two Rivers Company and The Roxy Board, and chairs the Montgomery County Health Council.
He attended Northeast High School and graduated cum laude from Austin Peay State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and minor in International Relations.
He served in the United States Marine Corps and currently works as an Operations Manager with the Clarksville Montgomery County School System.
He and his wife Diana have been married for 15 years and are the proud parents of a 14 year old daughter, Saige, and a 10 year old son, Lance.
Fellow county commissioner Tommy Vallejos previously announced his intention to run for the seat.
