CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System celebrated their local Teachers of the Year on Thursday at James Corlew Chevrolet, with one of them winning a new car.
All 62 teachers of the year were recognized at this live-streamed event. Three of the finalists had the chance to win a brand new Chevy Spark courtesy of James Corlew Chevrolet.
“I’d like to start off just by thanking all of our educators, all of our employees across CMCSS for all of their incredible work over the course of this last year,” said Schools Director Millard House.
The winner of the new car was determined by random. Each contestant was given a card out of the deck, and whichever one was highest determined the teacher who got to choose their box first. Christina Ploeckelman, a math teacher at Richview Middle School pulled a Jack, and therefore went first. Jessica Drudy went next, and Victoria McAlman went last.
Drudy won the car, but Ploeckelman and McAlman each won $500 Visa gift cards.
“I was in complete shock,” Drudy said.
“It’s just an honor to be here,” McAlman told Clarksville Now.
Ploeckelman said that she plans to put her money to good use by spending it on furniture for an upcoming move.
The Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation announced that the 62 nominees for Teacher of the Year will receive gift certificates to the Chopping Block as thanks for their hard work.
