CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Police continue to search for the man and woman involved in the shoplifting incident that occurred Dec. 14 at Walmart on Madison Street. During the suspected crime, a firearm was displayed. The couple was spotted again Wednesday, Dec. 18.

During the Dec. 14 incident a security sensor activated as a man was walking out of the store through the doors at the Madison Street Walmart. The sensor alerted a Walmart employee who requested to see the man’s receipt. The suspect looked at the employee and pulled a gun from his waistband. He held it below the waist and continued walking out of the business.

Around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 police were notified by Walmart’s Loss Prevention that the man and woman involved flashing a gun at the Sango Walmart were now at the Wilma Rudolph Blvd store. The couple had exited the store and entered a Ford Fusion.

Officers spotted the vehicle in the area of Wilma Rudolph Blvd and Morris Drive. They attempted a traffic stop but the driver fled in such a reckless manner, police felt the pursuit would place the public in danger. The decision was made not to pursue.

Around 3:25 pm, a 911 call came in about a man chasing a woman into the woods around Fair Brook Pl. Reports indicated a shot being fired. When officers arrived, they found the same Ford Fusion which had fled earlier, unoccupied and abandoned.

The area was quickly cordoned off by law enforcement. Officers and K-9 units, along with a THP helicopter, were utilized to search for the couple. They were not located and there was no indication anyone had been shot.

During the investigation, officials learned the Ford Fusion had been stolen out of Rutherford County. There were items linking the couple to the Sango Walmart incident as well.

Police are still confirming the identity of the suspects. The male suspect has a large amount of tattoos around his neck with a tattoo forming sideburns. Also, both his hands have very visible tattoos.

The suspects are believed to be in search of another vehicle to steal since they are now on foot.

They should be considered armed and dangerous.
