CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville man who has been charged in a fatal 2015 shooting on College Street has been arrested again on drug charges.

According to previous news releases, 19-year-old Tequan Evans was initially charged in May 2015 with criminal homicide for the shooting death of 20-year-old Charles Whitfield during a party.

Tremond Dinell Lenor (19), Bobby Lenor III (18), and Savion Stallworth (18) were also charged with criminal homicide.

Criminal homicide charges for Evans were dropped in June pending a grand jury presentation. He was then indicted in January of this year by the Montgomery County Grand Jury on charges of 1st degree felony murder, aggravated burglary, and criminal impersonation related to the shooting death of Whitfield.

According to court records, Evans posted bond on March 1. His next court date is set for September 8, with a trial scheduled to begin in October.

An arrest warrant shows that Evans was arrested again on Aug. 26. An officer was conducting a walk-through at Hunter Hills Apartments on Jack Miller Blvd. when he reportedly smelled marijuana coming from Evans’ vehicle.

The officer said Evans fled on foot as he tried to remove his backpack and detain him. He allegedly discarded the backpack as he fled, which contained 59 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, and a pill bottle containing two to tablets.

When police took Evans into custody, they found him in possession of a Taurus .380 handgun and $409 in cash.

Evans was arrested and charged with evading arrest, possession of firearm during felony, drug violations, simple possession, and unlawful drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $125,000.
