CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Camille Thomas, City of Clarksville Purchasing Director, has begun a two-year term as president of the Tennessee Association of Public Purchasing (TAPP).

Thomas was elected, along with a slate of other officers, in October at the association’s Fall Conference in Pigeon Forge. Her term began Jan. 1, 2020, and she previously served as vice president and secretary. Other current officers are: Vice President Christin Webb, Shelby County; Secretary Shaun Knight, City of Murfreesboro; and Treasurer Valerie Harless, Johnson City.

“Camille provides excellent leadership for our Purchasing Department, with an outstanding commitment to ethical standards that treat vendors with respect and protect our taxpayers’ interests,” Mayor Joe Pitts said. “I’m pleased she also dedicates her time and energy to share her talents with her colleagues across Tennessee.”

TAPP is a non-profit organization of purchasing professionals throughout Tennessee.  It is dedicated to promoting ethical, efficient and cost-effective public purchasing policies and practices; and providing educational programs and  services for public purchasing personnel. TAPP is an affiliate chapter of NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of leading such a great group of purchasing professionals from all over the state,” Thomas said.  “I’m honored they chose me to lead them for the next two years.”

The association conducts two yearly conferences, one in the spring and one in the fall, which is a joint conference with the East Tennessee Purchasing Association.

Information about TAPP is available at its website:  www.tappnews.com.
