CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville will soon welcome a new franchise to the frozen dessert scene with Bahama Buck’s, an original shaved ice company and the first in Tennessee.
According to their website, the company is dedicated to creating the “Ultimate Tropical Dessert Experience” for each guest. The franchise features not only shaved ice but also smoothies, Red Bull infusions, sodas and other frozen café favorites. They also serve açaí bowls, made from yogurt and fresh açaí berries.
Getting to Clarksville
Bahama Buck’s started in Lubbock, Texas, in 1991 and has now grown to over 100 locations nationwide, with more on the way.
Bill Netherton and his wife are the ones responsible for bringing the frozen treats to Clarksville. Netherton, who also owns Legion Realty, said he and his wife began searching for franchise opportunities after getting a dessert craving one night.
“Two years ago, we went home one night, and she was like, ‘I really wish we had some Bahama Bucks. I wonder if they’re a franchise. Can we open one?’ We did the research and everything, and here we are now.”
In addition to the location on Tiny Town Road, Bahama Buck’s will also be available on wheels at events in and around the area.
Netherton said he first found the franchise when he was stationed in Texas while serving in the Army. He told Clarksville Now he is excited to bring the brand to town.
“I’m just really excited for the opportunity for everyone else to fall in love with something so simple but so delicious and to quickly become one of the thousands and tens of thousands of flavor fans across the country. That’s what we call our returning gusts, our ‘flavor fans.'”
Giving back
Netherton said a trip to Bahama Buck’s is like a mini vacation.
“More than the brand itself, I’m excited to bring what Bahama Buck’s stands for, and that is to bless their guests with the best tropical dessert experience. It’s a mini vacation,” he said. “It’s the whole experience of going there, with the music that’s playing and the decor that’s around. We have games on shelves so you can start playing Uno with your friends and just hang out and get a retreat from life.”
Netherton also noted that the company will partner with the school system to offer coupons to kids on the honor roll through Buck’s Encouraging Education Program (BEEP!). Further, they will also partner with local nonprofits for fundraising.
“There are fundraising events that we can do. If you have a cause that you want to raise some funds for, you talk with me about it, we get together, and everything we make — all the net proceeds that night — goes to your cause. There are all kinds of really cool programs involving the community and giving back that Bahama Buck’s is also on track with and that I look forward to being a part of in Clarksville.”
Doors to Bahama Bucks are expected to open April 10 with a VIP night where up to 500 guests will have the opportunity to enjoy some free samples and check out the brand.
Bahama Bucks will be open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. seven days a week at 2029 Tiny Town Road, Suite 1.
