Update: Company and local officials have confirmed that Amazon will be filling an additional 1,000 positions, for 1,500 total.

Previously:

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – It has been nearly two years since the Amazon Fulfillment Center was built in Clarksville. Previous reports say shortly after being completed; Amazon delayed opening due to supply chain issues. But the 500-employee Amazon Fulfillment Center is now expected to open within the next month, and the company has begun the hiring process.

Amazon told Clarksville Now that jobs will be available for a wide variety of candidates, ranging from entry-level to general manager.

Colleen Tueth-Dunseath, lead staffing manager, said candidates are required to be at least 18 years old. “This particular role is going to be processing freight, the associate is going to be receiving products from vendors, sorting items up to 50 pounds and process them, and packing customers’ orders.”

Applicants can also obtain training on powered industrial trucks, and other lift equipment such as electric pallet jacks and work-assisted vehicles. Some vehicles lift the operator into the air, reaching a maximum height of 20 feet. However, Tueth-Dunseath notes that Amazon does have an accommodation team that workers can meet with.

Applicants can go to hiring.amazon.com. Once the application is filled out, candidates will complete an assessment. If you pass your assessment, a contingent offer will be immediately offered. Qualified candidates can find manager positions by going to Amazon’s main website.

Tueth-Dunseath said because this is a launch of a fulfillment center, it might be a little different, but normal hiring events usually see candidates go from application to first day in two weeks.

Candidates who cannot fill out an application online can meet with representatives at the American Job Center, 523 Madison St., Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Amazon will be uploading positions in groups of 120 labor orders. If there are no positions available, candidates can text JOBEVENT to 31432 for job opening updates.
