CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A 40-year-old man has been booked into Montgomery County Jail after being indicted for vehicular homicide for a fatal crash back in May of this year.

Back on May 4, at approximately 12:32 p.m., Clarksville Police responded to a fatality crash that occurred on Madison Street, near 10th Street, which involved two vehicles. According to CPD spokesman Scott Beaubien, a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck smashed into a tree, and a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck came to a rest at the bottom of an embankment in the tree line.

The driver of the Tacoma, 56-year-old Mark Norman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the other driver, 40-year-old Gary Heitzenrater, appeared to be uninjured. His truck rolled over, and Heitzenrater was able to get himself out, Beaubien said. He was checked by EMS at the scene.

Fatal Accident Crash Investigators processed the scene, which has been an ongoing investigation.  FACT Investigator Creighton presented evidence from this case to the Montgomery County Grand Jury earlier this month and an indictment for Vehicular Homicide was handed down.

Heitzenrater was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on Nov. 16 with a $90,000 bond. No other information is available for release as this case is pending prosecution.
