CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Four inmates and two deputies have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Montgomery County Jail.

Monday morning, the jail issued a ban on face-to-face visits with inmates.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sandra Brandon confirmed to Clarksville Now that the action was taken after the positive tests for coronavirus.

One of the deputies is a jail deputy, and the other is a patrol deputy. Neither have shown any symptoms. The patrol deputy got tested after transporting an inmate who appeared to have symptoms, Brandon said.

Both deputies are quarantining at home.

The inmates who tested positive are now in isolation. Brandon wasn’t aware of whether they had symptoms.

With visitation banned, anyone wanting to do so can still do video visits. Make an appointment by email to jlharris@mcgtn.org or by phone at 931-648-0615, ext. 13009.

Inside the jail, all deputies, volunteers and nursing staff are required to wear masks at all times. Inmates have to wear masks when outside their cells.

Anyone who shows symptoms of coronavirus is isolated, Brandon said, and the jail is following all Centers for Disease Control and Tennessee Department of Corrections guidelines for keeping the population and staff safe.
