Half Of All Canadians Watched Olympic Hockey
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Half the Canadian population, watched their countrymen beat the Americans 3-2 in to win the gold medal in the men's hockey tournament on Sunday, according to BBM Canada data.
That equals 16.6 million viewers (or about the average U.S. audience for, say, "NCIS: Los Angeles"). By another comparison, it would be equivalent to 154 million Americans tuning in for a televised event. Last month's Super Bowl holds the record for the most-watched show with 106 million viewers.
In all, 26.5 million Canadians, or 80% of the population, watched some part of the game as it aired live on nine TV networks nationwide in eight languages.
